TEK screws, also known as self-drilling screws, are one of the most commonly used fixings on construction and fabrication sites across Ireland. Choosing the correct TEK screw is critical for ensuring structural integrity, speed of installation and long-term performance.
At Icon Fasteners & Supplies Ltd, based in Wicklow Town, we supply a full range of TEK screws with nationwide delivery across Ireland, supporting contractors, shed builders and fabricators from Dublin to Cork, Galway and beyond.
Light section TEK screws are designed for fixing into thinner steel, typically up to 3mm thick. They are widely used for:
They feature a smaller drill point which allows fast penetration without damaging thin steel.
Heavy section TEK screws are engineered for thicker steel, typically up to 12mm. These screws are used in:
Using a light section screw in heavy steel can result in broken drill tips, poor fixing strength and delays on site.
Ireland’s climate means corrosion resistance is essential. Exterior-coated and bi-metal TEK screws offer superior performance for outdoor and coastal environments.
Icon Fasteners stocks light section, heavy section, stitcher, wing-tip and bi-metal TEK screws, all available for delivery nationwide or collection from our Wicklow hardware store.
